Why we no longer optimize older websites

optimizing older websites

As of December 1st 2024 we will no longer be accepting requests to optimize or enhance websites that were built before January 2020.

Here are the reasons for implementing our new policy:

1) Your website probably isn’t performing as well as it should, especially on mobile phones. Google can see this and will rank your business lower in the search results. If you don’t place any importance on keeping your website current, then Google assumes that you can’t be very serious about your marketing or your business. This results in a lower search ranking.

2) Your website is built using the WordPress content management system. In 2020, there was a major structural change made to the WordPress operating system. If your website was built before 2020, then it is using the old system. Google is aware of this too.

3) Upgrading your website with new content or optimizing your website for search is a major investment of time, resources and money. If your website is 5 years old, we would not feel comfortable taking your hard-earned money for a website that may be obsolete within a few years.

What we will still do for you

We understand that a website upgrade is a big investment and spending a bunch of money on your website doesn’t always fit your budget.

Here are the things we will still do for you, even if your website is really old.

1) We will continue to support you by providing the required site maintenance as long as possible. This is covered under your Website Care Plan.

2) We are willing to make minor content changes to your site such as adding or replacing text or photos. However we will no longer be offering any major content upgrades and/or Google optimization services for your current website.
